About

I am Michael Manahan, but please call me Miko.I have a passion for learning but perpetually finds it hard to devote time for it. I easily get distracted, one minute I'm into this and the next minute I'm into that, which tells so much about my research career --- nothing gets done. LOL. I graduated with a BA Linguistics degree from the University of the Philippines Diliman and am currently an MA Anthropology student in the same university (where I also work!). I am Instructor at the UP Department of Linguistics where I teach Japanese and Linguistics courses. For my MA thesis, I plan on using the Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) approach to study Filipino emotion words and expressions (which I hope my thesis adviser would approve) concentrating on the Tagalog language of pain and suffering (for now). And, I also consult for Kudan Institute of Language & Culture (KILC), a Japanese language school in Tokyo, Japan. If you plan to study in Japan, consider studying Japanese at KILC.
